Description
Geometric bagh printing gives this cotton tunic its pattern, hand block printed using the traditional mud-resist technique. Cut in a straight silhouette that falls to thigh length, it has a Chinese collar placket, curved hem and three-quarter sleeves for everyday ease. Pair with straight-fit trousers or leggings from the Fabindia edit for a look that works equally well at the desk or over the weekend.
Craft Details
An elaborate process of printing and dyeing with natural dyes, Bagh is a 400-year-old technique. Taking inspiration from alluring fauna and architecture, wooden blocks dipped in natural dyes of red and black are used to print traditional and contemporary patterns on fabric. Believed to have evolved from a tribal art, this craft has its roots in the Bagh district of Madhya Pradesh.
