Craft Details

A traditional embroidery native to Bengal, Kantha involves the elaborate use of a ‘running’ stitch. The motifs of this craft are inspired by nature and depictions of people living in Bengal. Perhaps one of the oldest forms of Indian embroidery, Kantha was traditionally practised with an aim to reuse worn out saris and dhotis for creating products like mats, quilts and pouches.
