Description
This viscose maxi dress has a soft, flowing look and a relaxed, tiered shape that lets you move gracefully. It has a square neck, delicate strappy sleeves, and a ruffled hem that makes it flow better from head to toe. It is made of light fabric. The Kalamkari print gives the piece depth and a handmade feel, while the light structure makes it easy to wear all day. Goes well with simple sandals for a look that can be worn in many ways.
Craft Details
Kalam' meaning pen and 'kari' meaning art, Kalamkari literally translates to 'pen craft' created using natural pens such as bamboo. The motifs that adorn the fabric focus on flora, fauna and human forms. This art form is practised in the Sri Kalahasti district of Andhra Pradesh. Another form of Kalamkari coming from the coastal town of Machiliptanam in Andhra Pradesh mostly uses hand blocks for printing.
